Installation, words made of pins
Starting from the vocabulary of concealment used by bureaucrats within totalitarian regimes, Agnès Geoffray introduces this representation of language. Words were used as instruments for camouflage in order to eradicate the facts. The work is presented as an installation displaying words made of pins – an object which is both delicate and violent. Agnès Geoffray renders and compares the phantom words and the persecutors' reconstituted language. The metaphors become a transformation of the reality, sometimes gruesomely literalized. The disappearance and the recovery of memory are visible in this work like a Palimpsest. The substitute words appear to be pinned, whereas the phantom words appear to be hollowed.

A partir du vocabulaire de dissimulation employé dans le lexique bureaucratique des régimes totalitaires, Agnès Geoffray met en scène cette re-figuration du langage. Chaque mot devenait alors un instrument de camouflage afin d’annihiler les faits. Le travail se présente sous forme d’installation figurant des mots constitués d’épingles – objet tout à la fois délicat et porteur de violence. Agnès Geoffray nous restitue et confronte ensemble, les termes fantômes et le langage reconstitué des bourreaux. Des métaphores qui deviennent métamorphoses du réel, parfois monstrueusement littéralisés. Ce qui se donne à voir ici est la disparition et le recouvrement de la mémoire, tel un Palimpseste. Les mots de substitutions apparaissent épinglés, les mots fantômes apparaissent évidés.
